Domain Registration FAQ
Frequently asked questions about domain registration and management
A domain name is your website's address on the Internet. It's what users type into their browser to access your website. Domain names are used to identify and locate computers on the Internet, providing a user-friendly way to navigate the web instead of using numerical IP addresses.
Once registered, a domain name cannot be modified or changed. If you need a different domain name, you'll need to register a new one which will have its own registration and renewal fees. While the domain name itself cannot be changed, you can still modify settings like DNS records or transfer the domain to another registrar.
Yes, once you've completed the registration process and received a confirmation notification from us, you are the owner of the domain name. It's important to ensure you've received this confirmation after paying your bill. If you haven't received it, please contact us immediately. Remember, until the registration is complete, the domain could potentially be registered by someone else.
To transfer a domain, several conditions must be met:
- The domain must have been registered or last transferred more than 60 days ago.
- The domain should not be expired or close to expiration. It's recommended to start the transfer at least two weeks before expiration.
- Ensure the WHOIS email address associated with the domain is current and accessible, as it will be used for transfer authorization.
- Be aware that transferring a domain automatically extends its registration by one year and typically incurs a fee.
